Code Of Conduct

The Goal of SorceryCon

To provide a safe, inclusive, and fun gaming space for everyone; including minors, LGBTQ+, people of color, and women.

Spirit of the Code

This code is designed to create a safe and inclusive space for all to enjoy and have fun with the hobby of Sorcery: Contested Realm. While you and others can mutually choose to discuss whatever you want at the convention; should that discussion or behavior become uncomfortable, disruptive, or take away from the fun of others, you will be asked to leave and repetitive incidents may result in a ban.

Respect

Sportsmanship

The desire for someone to continue playing a game can be soured by players that berate their opponents after winning or losing a match. Demeaning, disrespectful comments, or actions before, during or after a game indicate poor sportsmanship and will not be tolerated.

Abusive Language

We have no tolerance for abusive language. Use of abusive language will result in you being asked to leave and depending on the severity of the language you may no longer be welcome at SorceryCon. PG-13 levels of swearing are explicitly permitted.

Bullying

Behavior that demeans, is intended to hurt (physically or emotionally) another person, or that is made at the expense of someone else, will not be tolerated in any form and can result in a ban.

Imagery

SorceryCon is a family-friendly environment. Please ensure that your attire, games, and game paraphernalia are all appropriate for the event you are attending. Abusive/hate speech or images are never appropriate. What constitutes appropriate attire/images is at the sole discretion of SorceryCon staff, and complaints about inappropriate imagery are taken seriously (see Spirit of the Code). PG-13 sensibilities are a good target if you’re unsure. We ask that more risque content shared on our Discord be placed behind a spoiler tag with a content warning, and remain respectful.

Solicitation

You may not solicit or sell goods, events, or services on premise without the written permission of SorceryCon. Individuals buying and selling cards as part of small scale trading is permitted.

Hospitality

SorceryCon is the guest of whatever venue is hosting it. Attendees will follow the guidelines of the venue around smoking, weapon carry, and waste disposal; as well as refrain from damaging the property.

Honesty

Communities can only grow when people feel safe to engage in their favorite hobbies and pastimes openly. If you witness something that is against the Code of Conduct please find a staff member and report the incident to so that we may resolve any potential issue.

Cheating

Cheating will not be tolerated. Appropriate action will be taken to rectify the situation. This can be up to and including being banned from SorceryCon as well as being asked to leave an event forfeiting entry and any prize.

Theft

Theft is not tolerated. Anyone caught stealing or verified/proven as having done so will be permanently banned from SorceryCon and legal action will be taken/encouraged.

How You Can Help

Referring players to us, helping newer players learn or teaching them, and providing other players with a positive experience are the most valuable things any person can provide to our community.
